IN THE SPIRIT of cooperation and solidarity, our Electric Cooperative adhered to the National Electrification Administration’s (NEA) invitation to conduct Tree Planting and Line Clearing Activities on August 24, 2023. This was done simultaneously nationwide, alongside 120 more Electric Cooperatives. These activities were part of the celebration of NEA’s 54th Founding Anniversary and 14th National Electrification Awareness Month (NEAM).
Tree planting activity commenced as early as 7:30 in the morning of August 24, as the management and employees of QUEZELCO II gathered around the expanse at the back of the Main Office in Brgy. Gumian, Infanta, Quezon. Several fruit-bearing trees like santol, rambutan, and atis, were planted in the hopes that they may grow and stand tall in the coming years.
As the office personnel were occupied in the tree planting activity in the Main Office, our linemen were hard at work in the field. They accomplished a long span of line clearing in Brgy. Gumian, near Claro M. Recto District Hospital. This activity is done, not only today, but from time to time, as part of the sustained effort of our coop to provide our member-consumer-owners dependable electric service.
Over the years, our electric cooperative has always been one with NEA and its activities. We’ve always supported the Agency’s advocacies about the Rural Electrification Movement. Our coop is committed to giving its best for the benefit of our member-consumer-owners.
We may think that Tree Planting and Line Clearing are two contradicting activities. One is of growing and the other is clearing. Let this activity serve as a reminder to us—not only the employees but also the member-consumer-owners—that while it is our duty to care for our environment, we must do it with conscious mind. Vegetation is good for the environment as it prevents natural calamities but dense vegetation along distribution lines is unsafe and harmful to us. In order to help our coop give sustainable and dependable electric service for the convenience of everyone, let us also cooperate by not allowing trees grow along our distribution lines. Let us all keep a healthy working relationship between us for a sustained, brighter future.
